Location: Meliora Dental, Leeds
Contract Type: Full-time or Part-time (F/T basis: 40 hrs pw, Monday to Friday)

Role Summary
We are seeking a motivated, patient-focused and clinically confident Associate Dentist to join our growing team.
This role will primarily focus on providing high-quality NHS dental care while also supporting the growth of private treatments through patient education, internal referrals and identification of appropriate treatment opportunities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the wider clinical team, including therapists and nurses, to deliver comprehensive patient care and support an exceptional patient journey.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Undertake clinical duties in line with your GDC Scope of Practice, training, competence and indemnity, including:
- Providing high-quality NHS dental care and delivering a positive patient experience
- Carrying out comprehensive patient examinations, diagnoses and treatment planning
- Delivering routine and advanced restorative dentistry within scope of practice
- Providing preventative, periodontal and oral health advice to patients
- Prescribing, taking and interpreting dental radiographs where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous and compliant clinical records
- Obtaining and documenting valid patient consent before treatment
- Providing urgent and emergency dental care where required
- Referring patients appropriately where treatment falls outside scope of practice
- Working collaboratively with therapists, nurses and the wider practice team to support continuity of care and an effective patient journey
- Supporting anxious or nervous patients in a calm, professional and patient-focused manner
- Recognising and responding appropriately to medical emergencies and safeguarding concerns
- Identifying opportunities where patients may benefit from private treatments not available under the NHS, and supporting ethical patient education and internal referrals where clinically appropriate
- Supporting the growth of private dentistry within the practice through patient-focused communication and collaborative working with the wider clinical team
Compliance & Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain valid GDC registration, indemnity and CPD requirements
- Work in accordance with current GDC standards, HTM 01-05, CQC requirements and practice policies
- Ensure high standards of infection prevention and control are consistently maintained
- Maintain professionalism, empathy and patient confidentiality at all times
- Participate in clinical governance, team meetings and ongoing practice improvement initiatives
- Support a positive, collaborative and patient-centred culture within the practice
- Continually align with current clinical guidance and best practice standards
About You
- GDC registered Dentist (essential)
- NHS Performer Number required
- Previous experience within general dental practice preferred
- Confident managing NHS patient lists and routine dentistry
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient-focused with a warm and professional manner
- Comfortable discussing and promoting ethical private treatment options
- Organised, reliable and able to work independently and collaboratively
- Committed to high clinical standards and continuous professional development
- Confident using digital systems and dental software
