Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant (HCA)
Location: Dorset
Salary: NHS Band 2/3 (dependent on experience)
Hours: Contract / Part Time
About the Role
18 Week Support are seeking a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to support our Endoscopy clinics across Dorset. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality patient care throughout the endoscopy pathway.
As an Endoscopy HCA, you will play a vital role in supporting patients before, during, and after diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. You will work closely with our Endoscopists, Nurses, and Decontamination staff to ensure a safe, efficient experience for all patients attending the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support patients throughout their endoscopy journey, providing reassurance and excellent care.
- Assist clinical staff during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Prepare clinical rooms and equipment for procedures.
- Monitor and record basic patient observations.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and patient safety.
- Assist with patient admissions, recoveries, and discharges.
- Support stock management and equipment checks within the department.
- Ensure patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
About You
- Minimum of 2 years' experience
- Must have at least 6 months Endoscopy experience
- Previous experience within the NHS is essential
- Strong understanding of endoscopy procedures and equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and committed to delivering safe, effective care
